Apricot Angelfood Dessert
Finish your grilling night with a fabulous apricot angelfood dessert. Let you friends know they are welcome to come for a great BBQ anytime.
Ingredients
- 1 lg. angle food cake, cut in half
- 46 can apricot nectar
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- pinch of salt
- 7 tablespoons heaping cornstarch
- whipped cream
- shredded coconut
Instructions
1. Cut each half of angel food cake in pieces the size of a half dollar.
2. Keep in two piles.
3. Mix sugar, salt and cornstarch.
4. Add slowly to the apricot nectar.
5. Cook until thick, stirring often.
6. Cool.
7. Stir in almond extract.
8. Place half of the cake in a 9x12 inch pan.
9. Pour half of the sauce over cake.
10. Place other half of cake over first part and pour rest of the sauce over cake.
11. Smooth.
12. Refrigerate.
13. Frost with whipped cream and sprinkle with coconut before serving.
