I have used this same recipe, but used a bundt pan. I made the mixture with out the cherries, poured half the cake mix into the pan, added the cherries and then added the rest of the cake mixture. It turned out decadent. Love your recipes.

I made this yesterday for Valentines Day and made the cake in two heart shaped pans. What a hit. This is a fantastic cake and I will make it again and again. Even my husband liked it and he is not that fond of chocolate.

I made the cake. It was delicious, very moist. I used a wooden spoon and gently combined the Devil's Food Chocolate Cake, the Cheery Pie Filling, eggs, and Almond flavoring. I had no problem with the cheeries falling apart. My family loved the cake, I will make it often.

What I would do is stir the cake mix, almond flavoring, and eggs until well mixed, THEN gently stir in the cherry pie filling so as to keep the cherries as whole as possible.

We have updated the recipe to show that the cherry pie filling gets combined with the cake mix, almond extract, and eggs.
