Chocolate Sauerkraut Cake
We know, chocolate cake with sauerkraut sounds crazy, but it's really quite good! As long as you follow a good sauerkraut recipe, like this one, your cake will turn out moist, chocolatey and delicious - and you won't even taste the sauerkraut.

Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup
- 1 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup sauerkraut, drained
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda,sugar, and salt with shortening.
- Add syrup, vanilla, eggs, water and sauerkraut.
- Beat on medium speed with mixer until smooth.
- Pour into 13x9-inch pan.
- Bake at 375°F for 35 minutes.
