Brazilian Coffee Cookies

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon and 1/2 vanilla
- 1 cup and 1/2 flour
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Mix sugars, shortening, egg, milk and vanilla.
- Stir in remaining ingredients. Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
- Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Flatten to 1/8-inch thickness with greased fork dipped in sugar (press only in one direction) or with greased bottom of glass dipped in sugar.
- Bake at 400 degrees F until light brown, 7 to 8 minutes.
