Shoo Fly Cream Pie

- 1 pastry for a deep, one-crust, 9-inch pie
- 3/4 cup boiling water
- 1 cup dark molasses
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 cup flour, sifted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Pour boiling water over the baking soda in a bowl and stir in the molasses.
- Pour molasses mixture into the pie shell.
- Mix the flour, brown sugar, shortening, and salt into crumbs and sprinkle over the molasses mixture.
- Bake pie at 350 degrees F for 30 to 40 minutes.
- Let cool and slather with whipped cream.
