Bean & Onion Bake

Ingredients

  • 3 cup sliced onion
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • dash pepper
  • 2 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese, (about 1/4 pound)
  • 3 cup green beans, cooked crisp tender and drained
  • 2 tablespoon fine dry breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon marjoram

Instructions

Saute onion slices in butter until they are limp. Blend in flour, salt, mustard, and pepper. Add milk and stir constantly until mixture thickens. Blend in 3/4 cup cheese. Fold in green beans. Turn into shallow 2-quart casserole. Combine and mix remaining 1/4 cup cheese, bread crumbs, and marjoram. Sprinkle mixture over the top. Place in 350 oven for 30 minutes or until thoroughly heated. Serves 10.
