Best Pot Roast Dinner
The Best Pot Roast Dinner is a classic Sunday evening meal. Cooking beef pot roast is so easy with this simple recipe. Fix yourself a heaping plate of pot roast and potatoes just like grandma used to make!
Ingredients
- 5 pounds pot roast
- 2 pounds carrots, peeled
- 8 large potaotes, peeled and halved
- 1 large onion, quartered
- 1 teaspoon ground dried sage
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 3 stalks celery, chopped (optional)
- 2 dried bay leaves
- 3 tablespoons corn starch
- 3 cups water
Instructions
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Place potatoes on the bottom of a greased roasting pan, flat side down to allow browning. Add meat.
- Arrange remaining vegetables around the roast in an attractive way. Pour 3 cups of water mixed with the 3 tablespoons cornstarch and spices over the meat and vegetables.
- Cover with tight fitting lid or with aluminum foil. Bake for 2 1/2 hours.
