It has the perfect proportions for making into a small loaf. Slices from a loaf give more surface for getting that special “crispiness” that you can only get from toasting in a lightly buttered skillet. It’s very easy to make the loaf in advance and then slice and toast right before serving. Who doesn’t love anything that can be made ahead?"
