French Toast Skillet Sticks

Ingredients
- pinch of salt
- 1/4 cup half-and-half
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon stick butter, melted
- 4 thick slices cinnamon raisin challah, cut into sticks
- For coating the sticks:
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

The night before making your French toast, cut bread into thick "fingers" and lay out on a tray. Cover lightly with a paper towel and leave out overnight to stale. This will result in firmer sticks for dipping.

In a large bowl, combine eggs, half and half, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.

In another bowl, combine cinnamon and sugar and set aside.

Preheat a frying pan over medium heat with 1 tablespoon butter in the pan.

Roll the bread sticks in egg mixture quickly, shake off excess and place in pan. Turn and cook each side until golden brown and the sticks are firm.

Immediately roll sticks in cinnamon sugar to coat. Serve with maple syrup for dunking.
