Apple Cake with Walnuts
This is one of many delicious apple cake recipes but it comes with a crunch. A cup of walnuts adds a mellow flavor and texture. When the cake is baked cream cheese frosting is spread on top. Make this cake for the walnut lover you know!
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 5 Granny Smith apples, diced
- 1 cup walnuts, chopped
- Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 1 (3-ounce) package of cream cheese
- 3 tablespoon butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
Apple Cake:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Beat eggs until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add in sugar, oil, and vanilla.
- Sift together flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add to first mixture.
- Stir in apples and walnuts. Place in greased 9x13" pan and bake for 45 min or until center springs back when touched.
- Allow to cool in pan on a rack for 15 min, spread with Cream Cheese Frosting.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
- Beat cream cheese and butter together.
- Add vanilla and beat.
- Gradually beat in powdered sugar until smooth.
