    Mincemeat Cake

    Ingredients

    • 1 small pkg non-such dry mincemeat
    • 2 cups water
    • 1 3/4 cup sugar
    • 3/4 cup shortening
    • 3 cups flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt

    Instructions

    Sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Break mincemeat into small pieces and boil 3 minutes. Cool well. Add sifted ingredients and 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Bake 250 for 55 minutes in a well greased 9 inch tube pan. Leave stand a few hours after taking from oven before serving. This is good, there are no eggs in this recipe. Note: You could add Maraschino cherries and pineapple or candied fruit.
