Poppy Seed Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup poppy seeds
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup granulated white sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsps baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
Soak the poppy seeds in the milk overnight in the refrigerator. The following day, cream well the sugar and butter. Add beaten egg. Sift together flour and baking power. Add to creamed mixture. Then gradually add vanilla. Mix in the soaked poppy seed mixture. Bake in loaf or flat pan in moderate oven at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.
