Ackee and Saltfish, Basic

A very simple version of the classic Jamaican dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 dozen ackees
  • 1/2 pound salted codfish

Instructions

1.Heat frying pan with 2 fluid oz oil.

2. Meanwhile drain ackees. Flake the salted codfish. Add both to seasoning, simmer for 5 minutes, serve garnished with hard boiled eggs. NOTE: Traditionally a breakfast meal, and saltfish can be prepared without the ackee as a meal in itself.
