Creamy Potato and Ham Casserole
This Creamy Potato and Ham Casserole makes a wonderful weeknight dinner. Not only is it one of the best easy casserole recipes, it's also very budget friendly as well. Plus pretty much everyone loves it!

Ingredients
- 12 ounces evaporated skimmed milk
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 3 unpeeled baking potatoes, washed and sliced thinly
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 4 ounces deli ham, thin sliced
- 1 cup grated low-fat Swiss cheese
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the milk, salt, cornstarch, wine, pepper and nutmeg until milk comes to a boil and the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Coat a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish with nonstick spray. Layer half the potato slices in the bottom and sides of the dish.
- Cover with cheese, onion, ham and oregano. Cover with remaining potatoes. Pour sauce over the top.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. If desired, place casserole under broiler for 5 minutes to brown the top.

This recipe looks great! Always nice seeing a homemade sauce instead of using cream of garbage from a can. I love the idea of using swiss cheese and deli ham....looks like a winner!

Where does the white wine in the recipe go...it is not mentioned in thr instructions. Anyone know???
