Ingredients
- 3 pound spareribs or country-style ribs
- 4 cup sauerkraut, undrained
- 2 tart apples, peeled and chopped
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoon brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 small onion
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Heat oven to 450 degrees F.
- Cut ribs into serving pieces and place in 13 x 9 in pan.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
- Reduce temperature to 350 degrees F.
- Remove ribs; drain fat from pan.
- In same pan, combine sauerkraut, brown sugar, apples, onions and water; spread evenly. Arrange ribs on top.
- Bake uncovered until ribs are tender, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
