Beer Batter Chicken

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cup flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper, optional
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 can beer
- vegetable oil for frying
- 1 or 2 broiler-fryer chickens,cut up
Instructions
- Combine flour, salt, pepper(s), garlic powder, and beer. Whisk until smooth, let stand 30 minutes.
- Heat oil for frying to 375, dip chicken into batter. Let excess drip off, and fry a few pieces at a time till cooked through and golden brown.
- Keep fried chicken warm in a slow oven, while frying remaining chicken.
