Buffalo Wings (Fried Chicken Wings)

Buffalo Wings Fried Chicken Wings

"Buffalo wings are the best when it’s spicy, crispy on the outside yet tender inside. Have you tried one of those? It’s actually fried chicken wings, cut into small portions for ease of eating. Many of us love fried chicken, and this specific recipe is one of the favorites. As an American dish, it is served with blue cheese and a few sticks of celery. This recipe has a bit of Filipino adjustments, to accommodate our Pinoy taste buds. "

NotesWhy dry the wings first before adding anything? Drying the wings will ensure a more crispier skin! And it also avoids the possibility of oil popping because of excess water in the wings. It could burn your skin. We don’t want burns while cooking, right?
If you want a milder, not so spicy buffalo wings, simply add more butter into the sauce. It will balance the flavors and you will still love this dish!
If you do not want the sweet part, you may simply omit the honey part. Just mix the hot sauce and butter and you’re good to go!

Ingredients

  • 500 gram chicken wings
  • salt
  • pepper
  • paprika
  • cooking oil
  • 1 cup hot sauce
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  1. If you purchased chicken wings uncut into drummettes and wingettes, cut them first. (Drummette is the upper portion of the chicken wings, wingette is the flat part, wing tip is the tip, of course.)

  2. Make sure that the wings are dry before adding anything. You may dab them with tissue paper to ensure it is dry.

  3. Once dried, put the chicken wings into a bowl and season them with salt, paprika and pepper according to your preference.

  4. Heat a pan with oil. The oil should be very hot before putting in the chicken wings to fry. Fry the wings until golden brown, remove from heat and put them into a strainer to drain out excess oil.

  5. After frying all the parts, you may now make the sauce. In a sauce pan, put hot sauce and let it boil in low heat.

  6. When little bubbles start to appear, add honey. Stir occasionally to prevent from burning. Let it simmer for 1 minute.
