CORRECTION When I copied and pasted my comment apparently this site didn't like it. It omitted the fractions. My comment should have read 1 1/2 cups of margarine. And the amount of butter in other recipes was supposed to be 1/4 to 1/2. Hopefully this message will appear correctly. This site needs some improving. You should be able to paste in a message. And why doesn't it allow you to go back and make corrections - when you attempt to do so your message disappears.

WARNING Before you try this recipe the 1 cups of margarine for the chocolate chip mixture must be a typo. I followed the recipe and it was like soup - had to add more chocolate to get the correct consistency and it was a greasy mess. I used butter instead of margarine (why would anyone use margarine) but that would not have caused the soupy mess. After my disaster, I checked some other Almond Joy Cake recipes and they called for to cup of butter for the same amount of chocolate chips

Everyone is right! Should a 9x13 pan be used? and should cake be taken out of pan? Can this be made into a round layer cake? Please be more specific with instructions. We all know how to make a box cake but what size pan and so on.

The comments are right--there should be specific instructions for the pan size to bake the cake in! And it isnot even clear if you leave the cake in the pan or take it out. Very frustrating!

Hi all- The best way to prepare this cake is to follow the directions on the cake mix box and then continue on to step 2 of the instructions. The box will indicate the required cooking temperature and time. Hope this helps. -Editors of RecipeLion

I would also like to try this cake--to answer JaneCall's commet--the recipe says to bake the cake using a box mix--so I think that would mean to follow the directions on the cake mix box and then finish the cake following the directions listed above. Is this correct?

Recipe doesn't give pan size, cooking time or temp. Why post a recipe if it is not complete?

I'm assuming this is a sheet cake? What size? Do you wait till cake is cooled to put chocolate frosting on? Thanks!
