Secret Ingredient German Cake

Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cup flour
- 1 baking powder
- 1 baking soda
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1 cup beer
- 2/3 cup sauerkraut (chopped, rinsed, and drained)

- For the Icing:
- __BLANK__
- 8 ounce cream cheese softened
- 1/4 cup confectioners sugar
- 2 tablespoon cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time.
- Add beer. Add cocoa. Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda and powder. Add to creamed mixture slowly, until all is mixed.
- Fold in sauerkraut. Put into a slightly greased 9 by 15 baking pan.
- Bake for 30 to 45 minutes at 375 degrees F.
For the Icing:
- Cream the cream cheese in mixer.
- Add cream and vanilla. Add sugar slowly.
- Spread over top of cake.
