Upside Down German Cake Mix Cake
There are a ton of recipes for German Chocolate Cake, but none of them are as easy or as delicious as Upside Down German Cake Mix Cake. Made with bits of pecans and coconut, and with a cream cheese drizzle on top, it might be one of our favorite cake mix recipes. Take your first bite and you'll be taken away to a place of pure cake bliss.
Ingredients
- 1 German chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup pecan pieces
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese
- 1/2 stick of margarine
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Make cake mix according to package directions.

Sprinkle pecans and coconut in bottom of ungreased 9 x 13 inch cake pan.

Meanwhile, put butter and cream cheese in microwave bowl. Heat in microwave until butter is melted, mix in powdered sugar.

Pour cake mix over nuts and coconut. Drizzle cream cheese mixture over the top of cake batter.
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes.

I have been using this recipe for about 20 years. It was given to me at a family reunion. The only difference is I use a teaspoon for the cream cheese mixture and place several spoonfuls at different places on the cake. I have taken first place at several dessert contest with this cake.
