Forgotten Molasses Cookies
A timeless cookie recipe that should have never been forgotten, these delightful sweet molasses cookies are a blast from the past. Mixed with cinnamon and sugar, they are baked golden brown for a chewy, sugary delight. Dust off the recipe card, and make them for your family tonight.
Ingredients
- 6 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup lard
- 2 cup brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup dark molasses
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 cup hot water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
- Combine first 4 ingredients and mix well cream together lard and brown sugar.
- Add eggs 1 at a time beating well after each addition.
- Stir in molasses. Stir in the first 4 ingredients and then add the combined soda and water. Mix thoroughly.
- Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
- Bake for 8-10 min. Makes about 8 dozen.
