Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies
When I eat a cookie, the first thing I notice is whether or not it is still soft like when you first take it out of the oven. Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies is a cookie recipe that makes the basic oatmeal cookie that you love and remember.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup water
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 cups oats
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Instructions
- Simmer raisins in water over medium heat until raisins are plump, about 15 minutes. Drain, reserving liquid; add water to measure 1/2 cup.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
- Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Stir in liquid. Blend in the rest of the ingredients.
- Drop 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes, until light brown.

I use to have this recipe it was from my grandmother that i have lost over 40 years age. Not the recipe grandma I lost :(> These are the BEST Oatmeal cookies I have ever had and my family just loves them. Now I can sent the recipe to my son wife. Thank You Mr Food for saving me.
