1 Crisco is a brand of shortening. 2 I was like you thought these were going to be some sort of fluffy white cookies, but then realized this recipe is designed to use up the leftover egg yolks after you've made an angel food cake. My Mom made wonderful angel food cakes, but was always left with a bunch of egg yolks. Sometimes she would make homemade noodles with them, other times she mixed them in with the dog's food. The dog always had a great shiny coat!

I am new to baking and have a couple of questions regarding the above recipe. One, I thought angel food was made with egg whites and not the yolks...is this an error? Two, what is shortening? Is it margarine, butter or Crisco? Please clear this up for me as I am anxious to try the Great Angel Food Cookie recipe.
