One of our favorites is this recipe for Gone All Day Cabbage Rolls. Made in the slow cooker, these effortless cabbage rolls are cooked to perfection and are one of the easiest dinner recipes you could ever imagine. Stuffed with a mixture of ground beef and rice, these cabbage rolls are a perfect meal-in-one option for busy cooks everywhere.

Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage
  • 1 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 cups sauerkraut
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Core cabbage and place in large bowl. Cover cabbage with boiling water and let stand five minutes.
     
  2. Combine meat, onion, rice, egg, salt, pepper and paprika.
     
  3. Drain cabbage and remove leaves, cutting off the thick end of the stem.
     
  4. Put about two tablespoons of meat filling on a cabbage leaf. Fold sides in and roll.
     
  5. Place rolls seam side down in a slow cooker. Spread sauerkraut on top. Add tomato sauce and water.
     
  6. Cook on low 6-8 hours.
     
  7. Remove rolls, blend sour cream with sauce and serve with cabbage rolls.

I cook the rice first.It mixes in with the meat better.

This may be a dumb question but uncooked rice right?

This is the way I make cabbage rolls,except for the sour cream.I use extra tomato sauce to top them off.The sauerkraut spread on top is what makes it.This is the real way to make cabbage rolls.Deeelicious!
