Cider Stew for slow cooker

Ingredients
- 2 pound beef stew meat cut 1-inch cubes
- 3 tablespoon flour
- 1 apple, chopped
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon thyme, dried
- 2 cup apple cider
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 3 potatoes, pared and quartered
- 4 carrots, quartered
- 2 onions, sliced
- 1 stalk celery, sliced
Instructions
Coat the meat with the mixture of flour, salt, pepper and thyme. In a skillet or large saucepan brown the meat in 3 T of oil. Drain off the fat. Place the vegetables and the chopped apple in the slow cooker. Combine the apple cider and vinegar. Place the meat on top of the vegetables. Pour the cider vinegar mixture over the meat. Cover and cook 10 to 12 hours on low heat. Turn cooker to high heat. Blend 1/2 cup of cold water with 1/4 cup of flour. Stir into stew. Cook and additional 15 minutes or until thickened.
