Country Ribs with Apples and Kraut
This super simple ribs recipe is full of flavor. Slow cooking the ribs with apples, mushrooms and sauerkraut is a great way to enhance the taste of the ribs and break away from the traditional grilled or BBQ methods.

Ingredients
- 3 pounds pork ribs, trimmed of fat
- 16 ounces can sauerkraut, undrained
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced into rings
- 8 ounces can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
- 1 large apple, cored and sliced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
Instructions
- Brown ribs in slow cooker pot (or skillet) on top of range over medium heat. Season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer cooker pot to base unit or meat from skillet into cooker pot. Layer sauerkraut, onion, mushrooms, apple wedges and brown sugar over ribs. Sprinkle with celery seed. Cover and cook on low 7-9 hours.
