Dressing in the slow cooker

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsely, chopped
  • 16 ounce canned mushrooms, drained
  • 12 cup bread cubes or crumbs, or more
  • 1 tsp poultry seasoning
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 4 cup chicken or turkey broth
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • giblets, livers, optional

Instructions

Spray cooker liner with non-stick spray, and spread oil or lard all over the pot before you start. Place bread in the pot. Saute the onions in the butter, and pour over the cubes. Add all the other dry ingredients. Mix the eggs and broth, and pour over the whole thing. Mix slightly. Cover and cook on high for 45 minutes. Reduce heat to low, and cook for about 6 hours.
