Hearty Slow Cooked Beef Stew

Ingredients
- 2 pounds beef, cubed
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 6 carrots, sliced
- 4 celery stalks, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 16 small potatoes, halved
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 1 package frozen vegetable mix (about 20 ounces)
- 1 can condensed beef broth
- 1 cup dry red wine
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons browning and seasoning sauce
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Place beef cubes in slow cooker. Combine flour with the salt and pepper; toss with beef to coat thoroughly.
- Add carrots, celery, onion, potatoes, mushrooms, and frozen vegetables to slow cooker and mix well.
- In another bowl, combine broth, wine, sugar and browning mix. Pour over meat and vegetables; stir carefully.
- Cover and cook on low setting for 10 to 14 hours.
- Make a smooth paste of flour and water; stir into slow cooker to thicken the sauce. Cover and cook until thickened.
