Ingredients
- 2 small onions, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, diced
- 2 carrots, sliced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon basil
- 1/4 teaspoon thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon sage
- 2 tablespoons dry parsley flakes
- 1 (10-ounce) package frozen peas
- 3 pounds whole broiler/fryer chicken
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/3 cup raw converted rice
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in slow cooker except rice in order listed.
- Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours (high 4 to 6 hours).
- One hour before serving, remove chicken and cool slightly. Remove meat from bones and return to slow cooker. Add rice.
- Cover and cook the additional hour on high.
