Slow Cooker Meat Pasta Sauce

This Slow Cooker Meat Pasta Sauce gives you a taste of Italy without having to slave over a hot stove all day. You won't find a recipe for rich meat sauce for pasta that's more flavorful than this! If you love Italian sausage, this sauce is for you!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/2 pound bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 can (28-ounce) Italian tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 1 can (28-ounce) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (28-ounce) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6-ounce) tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon anchovy paste
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 1/4 cup dry red wine
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced or put through press
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon instant beef bouillon
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Romano cheese, finely grated
  • pasta

Instructions

  1. Saute onion in oil, adding sausage and beef a little at a time.  Cook over medium high heat until browned.
     
  2. Drain and add to slow cooker with all other ingredients except cheese.
     
  3. Cover slow cooker and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours.
     
  4. Just before serving add cheese and stir.
     
  5. Serve over your favorite pasta.
