Summer Slaw
Summer Slaw is a creative change to the average cabbage coleslaw recipe. Make this dish ahead of time and bring to a summer party or event. Guests will love this summertime slaw.
Ingredients
- 1 large head of cabbage, or 1 bag of pre-cut coleslaw
- 2 white onions
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 cup vinegar
Instructions
- Mix in a large bowl, the cabbage, onions, and 1 cup sugar.
- Bring to a boil the 2 teaspoons of sugar, salt, mustard, oil, celery seed, and vinegar.
- Pour boiling mixture over the cabbage/onion mixture; do not stir for 4 hours. Refrigerate.
- Add green, red, or yellow peppers and pimento for color. Stir before serving.
