    Old Fashioned Bread Pudding

    Ingredients

    • 4 slices bread, buttered
    • 1/3 cup, 75 ml currants
    • 1/3 cup, 75 ml raisins
    • 1/4 cup, 50 ml sugar
    • 2 cups, 500 ml milk
    • 3 eggs
    • 1/2 tsp, 2 ml vanilla
    • dash nutmeg

    Instructions

    Serves: 4. Cut bread into triangles and arrange in alternative layers with fruit and sugar in a buttered ovenproof dish. Beat eggs and add milk and flavouring. Pour over bread and sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake in slow oven 300 - 325 (150 - 160 C) for 1 hour or until set. Serve hot.
