    Strawberry Shortcake

    Ingredients

    • 2 C flour
    • 2/3 C butter
    • dash salt
    • 1 t baking powder
    • 1/4 C cream (or milk)

    Instructions

    Sift the dry ingredients together. Cut in the butter (just like pie dough). Add cream and lightly mix. If it's too dry add a bit more cream. If it's too wet, it'll dry out when it bakes. Just turn down the heat a little and bake longer. Pat or spread dough into a cake pan - it doesn't need to touch the edge. Bake at 375 about 20 minutes or until brown. If it's thick, slice in half horizontally to make 2 layers and if it's thin - just leave it alone. Slice berries, douse them with sugar and let sit in the refridgerator until the sugar turns syrupy. Layer the strawberries and shortcake, cut into wedges and serve with a big dollap of whipped cream.
