Baked Whole Pears with Raisin nut Filling
Ingredients
- 4 large winter pears
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup each of raisins and chopped nuts
- 1/4 teaspoon each of salt and ground mace
- 4 teaspoon strained honey
- 1/2 cup hot water
Instructions
Wash pears. Cut off stem ends, and core. Place in shallow baking dish. Combine remaining ingredients except honey and water. Fill pears with sugar mixture and spoon remaining mixture around pears. Top each pear with 1 teaspoon honey. Add water to dish and cover. Bake in preheated moderate oven (375F.) for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for 10 minutes longer, or until pears are tender. Serve warm or chilled, topping pears with sauce left in dish. Makes 4 servings.
