Caramel Bacon Apples

Caramel apples are a seasonal favorite. The sweet flavor of the caramel pairs so well with the natural fruitiness of the apple to create a Fall-time favorite. Caramel Bacon Apples takes caramel apples to the next delicious level by adding bacon into the mix. Made with a homemade caramel sauce, its a sweet and salty treat that will become your new favorite. You're not going to be able to eat a caramel apple without bacon after trying these.

Ingredients

  • 6 to 8 large apples
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 14 ounce sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pound Applewood bacon
  • 6 to 8 wooden craft sticks

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon on microwave safe plate for 5 minutes at a time until crisp. Drain on paper towel and set aside to cool. Once cooled, crumble bacon into small bits; set aside.

  2. Wash apples and remove stems. Insert wooden sticks where stems were; set aside.

  3. Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Add brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and corn syrup; bring to boil.

  4. Simmer for approximately 30-40 minutes or until it registers 200 degrees on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

  5. Dip apples into caramel and roll in bacon bits. Cool on buttered baking sheet or plate.
