Goetta

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 pound ground pork
  • 6 cup water
  • 3 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon pepper, ground course
  • 2 1/2 cup pinhead oats
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 4 to 8 bay leaves

Instructions

Put water, salt and pepper into a pot and bring to a gentle boil. Add oats and cook for 1 1/2 hours, covered. Stir every 15 minutes. Add meats, onion and bay leaves. Mix well. Cover and cook on low for 3 hours. If too wet remove cover and allow to thicken. Pour into containers and cool. Once it is made and cooled it is then cut into slices and fried or heated soft or eaten cold.
