Easy Sipping Egg Nog
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups light cream
- 1 orange
- 2 cups egg nog
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1-1/2 tsp rum extract
Instructions
12 to 16 servings. In a large saucepan whisk sugar gradually adding the cream. Using a vegetable peeler, thinly peel off strips of orange rind. Add to cream mixture, cook over medium-low heat, whisking constantly for 10 to 15 minutes until a candy thermometer registers 160 degrees F. Immediately strain into a heat proof bowl, whisk in egg nog and rum extract. Let cool slightly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until chilled. Whip cream, fold in egg nog mixture. Serve in chilled punch bowl or individual glasses. Sprinkle with nutmeg or shaved chocolate.
