- 12 large eggs
- 4 1/2 cup milk
- 1 1/2 pint heavy whipping cream
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- Ground nutmeg, to taste
- 3 cup bourbon, brandy, or dark rum

Homemade Eggnog

Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Be careful because egg whites won't whip if there are yolks in them.

Using a whisk or an electric beater, beat the egg whites until they turn frothy. Add half the sugar and beat until soft peaks form.

Mix the remaining sugar with the egg yolks in a separate bowl.

Combine the egg mixtures by gently folding the egg yolks into the egg whites.

Gently fold the alcohol into the egg mixture. Slowly add the milk and half of the cream into the bowl. For thicker eggnog, reduce the amount of milk by half. Taste the mixture to decide whether to add more alcohol.

Beat the reserved half of the cream in another bowl until nearly stiff. Gently fold it into the eggnog.

Transfer the finished eggnog into a large punch bowl for serving. Top each glass with whipped cream and nutmeg.
