Tres Leches Cake

Ingredients
- For the Cake:
- 6 eggs, separated
- 2 cup sugar
- 2 cup flour
- 3 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 teaspoon vanilla
- For Tres Leches sauce:
- 1 can (13 oz.) evaporated milk
- 1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (225 grams) Crema Media (light cream)
- For Frosting:
- 2 egg whites
- Dash of salt
- 2 tablespoon light corn syrup
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup water
Instructions
For Cake:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Beat egg whites until peaks form. Add sugar gradually.
- Add egg yolks, and beat 3 minutes.
- Combine flour and baking powder; add to egg mixture alternately with milk.
- Pour batter into well greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 40 minutes.
For Sauce:
- Pour evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and crema media into blender; blend.
- Punch holes in cake with toothpick while still warm, and pour sauce over cake.
- Allow cake to cool in refrigerator before frosting.
For Frosting:
- Mix egg whites, salt, corn syrup, sugar, water, and vanilla in the top of double boiler.
- Cook for 7 to 10 minutes while beating constantly.
- Frost cake.
- Keep refrigerated.
