Fruity Girdle Scones
Ingredients
- 8 ounce self-raising flour
- A pinch of salt
- 1/2 level teaspoon grated nutmeg
- 2 ounce butter
- 2 ounce sugar
- 2 ounce dried fruit
- 1 egg, beaten
- Milk to mix
Instructions
Mix the dry ingredients together and rub in the butter, then stir in the sugar and the fruit. Mix with the egg and milk to a stiff dough, then roll out to 1/2 " thick and cut into rounds or triangles. Cook (moderately hot) till brown on both sides - 2x5 minutes.
