Dill Pickles

Ingredients

  • 1 qt. firm cucumbers aprox 1 lb.
  • 1 large piece of Dill
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. salt
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

Soak cucumbers in Alum water for 5 hours. (1 tsp. alum dissolved in enough water to cover cucumbers.) Drain and rinse. Pack into jar with Bay leaf. Bring to the boil, the water, vinegar and salt. Pour over cucumbers and seal. Small sized carrots are delicious done the same way.
