Hot Water Cornbread

Ingredients

  • 1 c. white meal
  • 1 c. yellow meal
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

Mix white meal, yellow meal and salt well. Pour in 2 cups boiling water containing 2 tablespoons fresh bacon drippings. Mix well. After dough has cooled 20 minutes, work in baking powder dissolved in 2 tablespoons water. Mix well. Divide into bite size balls or small patties. Cook submerged in hot oil or grease at 380 degrees until golden brown.
