Basmati Rice

Ingredients

  • 300g (10 1/2 oz) Basmati rice
  • 550 milliliter (1 pint) cold water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (if you want)

Instructions

serves 3-4 people. Put the rice and cold water - with the salt if used - into a large saucepan with a well-fitting lid. Bring to the boil, turn down the heat and simmer for 10 minutes, then take the pan off the heat and leave it to stand for 5 more minutes, all without taking the lid off! Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
