Secret Ingredient Cheesy Potatoes
You might look at this ingredients list and get a little skeptical, but trust us, these potatoes are to-die-for. Secret Ingredient Cheesy Potatoes use one unexpected ingredient: Sprite! Including soda in the simple potato recipe adds just a hint of sweetness, in such a good way. Topped with cheddar cheese and made with garlic, bacon, and fresh mushrooms, these are some of the best potatoes you'll ever have.
Ingredients
- 1 pound bacon, diced
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 pounds potatoes, sliced, skin on
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 1 can Sprite soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup parsley flakes
- 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
Instructions

Brown the bacon in a Dutch oven. Drain and add onion and garlic. Cook until clear.

Add potatoes and mushrooms and mix well. Pour in Sprite, and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Cover and cook until potatoes are tender. Add parsley and cook another 5 minutes.

Just before serving, top with cheese and serve after cheese melts.
