Cock a Leekie Stew
It's a funny name for a no-nonsense dish! Cock a Leekie Stew is basically a traditional chicken soup. It's up to you to guess where it's from!

Ingredients
- 6 small chicken breasts, cut into pieces
- 4 leeks
- 1 carrot
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 turnip, diced
- 6 cups chicken stock
Instructions
- Cut off green leaves of leeks. Peel carrot.
- Boil leek greens and carrot peelings and turnip trimmings in large pan of boiling water for twenty minutes.
- Pour into another pan through sieve. Add chicken pieces, diced turnip, sliced leeks (white bits), sliced carrot, salt and pepper and cook for 1 hour and 10 mins.

Well woodstock, as with a lot of the recipes something got left out. I have made my grandmother's recipe for Cock a Leekie chicken many times and the turnip is added with the other vegies. Enjoy!

what happened to the turnip in this recipe?? I see you boil the turnip trimmings, but what do you do with the trimmed turnip?? you say to add sliced leeks, carrot and chicken but nothing about the turnip. Kindly advise. Thanks
