Oven-Baked Stew

Oven-Baked Stew is always a great winter dinner. Stew beef soup recipes are an easy way to fill up your family and make sure they're getting a good hearty meal.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 2 pounds beef stew meat, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/3 cup flour or 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 can (16-ounces) tomatoes, undrained, cut up
  • 10 ounces beef broth (Oxo is fine)
  • 2 cups potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup celery, sliced
  • 4 medium carrots, sliced
  • 3 small onions, quartered
  • 1 bay leaf

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees F.
     
  2. Heat oil in 4-quart Dutch oven over medium heat. Brown beef cubes in oil.
     
  3. Add flour, salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Stir in tomatoes and beef broth; mix well.
     
  4. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring frequently. Add remaining ingredients; mix well.
     
  5. Cover and bake for 2 hours or until meat is tender, stirring twice during baking. Remove bay leaf.
