Conversation Hearts Brownies

Who doesn't love those little candy hearts? These brownies are a take on the popular conversation hearts often exchanged on Valentine's Day. If you're like us, you're going to like this recipe a lot better than the candy. The frosting alone will break some hearts. It's that good.
This brownie recipe couldn't be easier. All you need is a pre-made brownie mix, and we'll show you how to make the tasty buttercream frosting on top! Grab your favorite food coloring and customize your hearts just the way you like.

Yields7 - 8 brownie hearts per batch of baked brownie mix in a 9x9 inch baking pan

Ingredients
- For the brownies:
- 2 package of your favorite brownie mix plus ingredients needed to bake listed on the package (We used Ghirardelli Double Chocolate with chocolate chips), baked in (2 ) 9x9 inch baking pans lined with parchment.

- For the buttercream Frosting:
- 4 cup confectioner’s sugar
- 2 stick confectioner’s sugar
- 3 teaspoon vanilla
- 2-3 tablespoons milk plus additional if needed
- Food coloring in pink, yellow, blue and red
- Heart shaped cookie cutter
- Piping bag and writing tip

Directions

Prepare the brown mixes according to the directions on the package. Line (2) 9X9 inch baking pans with parchment and lightly spray with cooking spray.

Bake brownies according to the directions on the brownie mix package. Let brownies fully cool.

Carefully lift the brownies from the baking pan. Using a heart shaped cookie cutter, cut as many heart brownies as you can. Set aside.

In the bowl of a stand mixer using the whip attachment, on low speed mix the confectioners’ sugar with the butter, vanilla and 2 tablespoons of milk.

Continue to mix until you have a light and fluffy frosting. Add additional milk if needed.

Divide the prepared frosting into five equal portions into mixing bowls.

Tint the frosting with the food coloring as follows:
- Pink:1 drop
- Red: 3 drops
- Green: 1 drop of yellow and very small drop of blue
- Yellow: 1 drop of yellow
- Purple: 1 small drop pink, red and blue

Place the red tinted frosting in a piping bag with a writing tip.

Using a small spatula spread a layer of tinted frosting on each brownie.
