Almonnaise
Mayonnaise is tasty, but can be full of calories. Almonnaise is a vegan, lower calorie alternative. This free vegan recipe is ideal for any vegan ingredient substitution list. Free vegan recipes rarely taste this good. Hooray for frugal vegan recipes.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup blanched almonds
- 1/2 cup water or soy milk
- 1 small sliver garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 3 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 dash cayenne pepper
- 3 cup safflower oil
Instructions
- Blend almonds and water until thick and creamy.
- Add garlic, salt, lemon juice and pepper. Blend briefly.
- With blender on high, drizzle oil in. When the oil stops combining, and collects on top, stop blending.
- Remove lid and continue to add oil while beating shallowly.
- Final consistency will be between mayonnaise and whipped cream cheese.
- Enrich Almonnaise with nutritional yeast and garlic powder if desired.
