Ingredients
- 1 box Duncan Hines yellow pudding cake mix
- 1 package instant vanilla pudding
- 1 pound cream cheese
- 1 1/2 to 2 cups milk
- 1 can crushed pineapple, drained
Instructions
- Prepare cake mix per directions on the box, pour into oblong cake pan and bake per box instructions.
- Let cake cool.
- Beat the instant pudding, 1 1/2 cups milk and cream cheese. Add 1/2 cup of milk here if it is too thick. Frost the top of the cake with this mixture.
- Top with the crushed pineapple and chill.
- Serve with Cool Whip topping.

I may be be missing something but I don't see any connection whatsoever to Santa, a surprise, or Christmas. if anything this sounds like summertime or tropical.

Hello thelaytons and smmkpm, Sorry for the confusion on this reader submitted recipe. I updated it to reflect it as a cake only recipe. I do not know where the cupcakes came into play. It's more of a frosting recipe than a cake recipe, as you can see it's using a box mix. I hope that helps, sorry for the trouble, but thanks for feedback!

Why is the batter described as fruity when it is simply yellow cake mix? Why is the batter baked as a cake along with 3-4 cupcakes?
