My mom makes these cookies every Christmas. We try to get her to make them more often, but she won't. She says they will not be so special if she makes them all the time. We just want them once or twice more a year. There is nothing wrong with that is there?

I love baking chocolate cookies, especially chocolate-oat ones. The oats give a nice texture. What I like most about this recipe is that it uses oil instead of margarine. I've baked cookies using both oil and margarine and the oil is definitely easier to work with. I also like coconut oil for making the cookie dough.

These are truly a Christmas tradition. I especially like this recipe because it only has around 10 ingredients, which is very manageable for the home chef. Plus, the powdered sugar topping is the best part!
